Loan Horses Australian Youth Olympic Festival
Only 5 weeks to go and we need your help as we still need more loan horses for the Australian Youth Olympic Festival dressage competition.
Horse Owners
We will need 20 Dressage horses that compete at Medium/Advanced level or higher with well established flying changes and two track work. Ponies considered as well as horses.
Owners who are prepared to lend their horses will be provided with:
- Financial assistance of $500 per horse will be provided to owners who offer horses for the event. The horses are required from Monday, 12 to Sunday, 18 January 2009.
- Admission to the event
- A free pass to the Opening Ceremony
- Meals and accommodation at SIEC
- Basic feedstuffs, a stable and bedding for your horse
- Recognition of your contribution in EFA publications
- A memento of the event
Owners are expected to either groom for their horses themselves or provide a groom. The athletes will assist in daily care of the horses including grooming, washing and stable cleaning wherever possible. If you are interested in lending your horse but are not in a position to stay and groom for your horse we hope to have some experienced grooms who would be able to look after your horse.
As horse owners, you are going to be part of an international event, have fun with our visiting teams and will take home a memento and plenty of memories.
For the second time, Equestrian is represented in 2009 with the Disciplines of Dressage and Jumping. Up to six Teams will compete in the dressage competition.
The festival is designed to provide an opportunity for junior/young athletes to compete in an atmosphere similar to an Olympic Games. It will provide athletes with the experience of living in an athlete’s village, participating in drug testing as well as competing against international athletes.
Each team will draw 3 horses; the Team Coach will then decide (after consultation with the owners and a short test ride) which horse suits each rider best. There will be three days of training followed by three days of competition.
Each rider will ride the following tests (one test per day)
FEI Individual test
FEI Junior Team test
FEI Junior Freestyle test
If you have any questions about what is involved please contact me of more information.
